The first Phanhabs book was a milestone

by | February 2011

Publishing is something completely new for me. I grew up in the Netherlands, where I studied Business Administration. After my studies I worked in marketing and e-commerce for big multinational companies. Moving to Hamburg, Germany, gave me the opportunity to study illustration design. My first book-project Tata&Squack, Die Grosse Reise, I developed together with the author Elisabeth Visser. Everybody loved it, but nobody wanted to publish it. It was just too different. So I started twikga, my publishing company, to make books which are different: I use photography in my illustrations and mix it with drawings and collages, I make books about the wilderness, combine fact and fiction and make books which are multilingual. In november 2010 twikga reached a milestone and published it’s first book, Phanhabs Lush Bush. The book shows creative impressions of the green habitats of wild animals in the bush and how they spend their day. In the back of the book are their names and hiding places. The feedback I get from parents (and children!) tells me, I did the right thing. They love the illustrations and the idea behind the book – a great “wildlife-activity-book” for children in different age groups. More information about Phanhabs in the twikga books portfolio…
