Fly camping brings you even closer to the wilderness

by | November 2013

Around a big safari camp there is always a lot of activity, like generators, cars, people, so animals tend to stay away. Therefore we love to go fly camping. A small camp brings you even closer to the wilderness. It is great to stand under a bucket shower in the middle of nowhere. Evenings are spent around the campfire, where marvelous bush dinners are being prepared. At night you sleep in a small tent and listen to the sounds of the night. Bullfrogs and hippos can be quite noisy. But to hear a lion roar or a leopard sawing close by is very special. We put up camera traps, hoping to catch the mysterious aardvark, which lives in the area. But that was a no-show. Maybe because of the weather. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain on our night out, so coming back to our big comfortable tent in the main camp was not so bad after all.
