Desert lion in Remembering Lions book
We are proud to be part of the Remembering Lions book with one of our pictures. This is the fourth book in the Remembering Wildlife charity series which raises funds for projects working to protect lions in Africa. Sadly their numbers are declining and only around 20.000 of this iconic species are left. They are mostly threatened by expanding human populations leading to loss of habitat and natural prey, increasingly bringing them into conflict with humans and livestock.
Wildlife Photographers United
The lion book is full of images generously donated by many of the world’s top wildlife photographers. A great number of them attended the opening night at the galleria, where Johnathan Scott, one of the Big Cat People held an engaging speech, stating that Remembering Lions is a call to arms on behalf of the warrior king.
Vernissage Galleria Pall Mall
Celebrating my picture in the book during the vernissage at Galleria Pall Mall in London. I have fond memories of the trip to Namibia where I took this picture in 2014. We drove up all the way up to Angola, along the Skeleton Coast. This lioness had managed to kill a porcupine. Not an easy prey, but in this harsh desert environment you can’t be picky.
Book launch on historic ground
Margot Raggett, the driving force behind the Remembering Wildlife initiative, presented the launch of the Lion book at the prestigious Royal Geographical Society in London. Afterwards many people queue up and waited to have their books signed by the photographers.
